7 Days |
Maximum Elevation: 5200m |
| Season: Mid September
to November and March to mid May |
|
 |
Summery:
The drive from Katmandu to Lhasa over spectacular Passes
and revealing views of the majestic Himalayas, takes seven
days over the "Friendship Highway". The drive is
well worth it as you encounter some enchanting Buddhist monasteries,
highest mountain of the world (Mt. Everest) and remote villages
untouched by modern civilization. While approaching the city
you will be able to notice the Potala Palace, a vast white
and ochre fortress that dominates the Lhasa skyline, en route
we will stop for one night in Everest Base Camp (Ronbuk).
Beside the Everest Base Camp, the will by pass through the
major highlighted places of Tibet, Nyalam, Shigatse &
Gyantse the historical seat of Tibetan power and the location
of the tombs of previous Dalai Lamas, the Potala Palace has
been reduced to serve as a symbolic feature for Tibetan aspirations.
Travelers who prefer to travel independently in Tibet rather
than sticking with a fixed itinerary can take this overland
tour. This 7 days tour brings you to Lhasa via highlighted
places situated in Kathmandu Lhasa highway (friendship highway).
Once you reach Lhasa, you are independent and you will be
responsible for making all the necessary arrangements and
return journey to Nepal. However, if you would like to fly
out from Lhasa to Kathmandu, we can manage the air ticket
in advance.
For this type of tour, we are allowed to get the Tibet visa
for a maximum 2- 4 weeks (however this may change) after that
if you want you can extend your visa by yourself in Tibet
(not in Lhasa though, only in small town out of Lhasa). You
are allowed to travel with Tibet visa up to the Mainland China
where this visa will be replaced by an individual Chinese
visa. This will be valid for another 30 days. |

| TRAVEL
INFORMATION ON YOUR TOUR TO TIBET |
| Most
importantly, all travellers travelling in Tibet are kindly
requested to bear in mind that Tibet, being extremely remote
and isolated by the most formidable Himalayan ranges, remains
still one of the most captivating but least developed parts
in the world. On top of that, with its very short history
of tourism (just about 15 years), the facilities for tourist,
although being upgraded, are still at basic and limited scale.
So, the visitors are requested not to have high expectation
in terms of facilities in Tibet. You can rather take this
tour as an adventure from every point of view e.g., road,
hotel, visa, altitude, etc. However, we will always put all
our efforts in making your journey as pleasant as possible. |
 |
| Acute
Mountain Sickness (AMS) |
You
will be visiting a remote part of the world in high altitude
conditions. Your body needs many days to adapt to this so
for a safe tour it is absolutely essential to allow sufficient
time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required
to minimize the risk of AMS. Whilst a large part of the tour
is relatively straightforward, there will be sections of more
strenuous activity. Additionally, weather conditions can change
and very cold temperatures may be experienced at night.
We advise specially the guest(s) with known heart or lungs
or blood diseases to consult their doctor before travelling.
Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder
are symptoms of AMS. This can take from few hours to a couple
of days, depending on an individual. Take it lightly, but
drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquids, proper hydration in
necessary to acclimatize. We also recommend you to carry a
strip of a DIMOX tablets. |
 |
| Landslides |
| As Tibet tours get
operated mainly during the monsoon time, there are high chances
of landslides mostly in the Nepalese part (also in the early
part in Tibet). In case of landslides, to over cross them
and the gap in between, extra vehicle with porters may have
to be arranged. In that case, you are kindly requested to
contribute nominal charges for porters and vehicle, ranging
from RS. 200-300 per person. We wish there will be no hassles
as such. Besides the landslide expenses, if our guide raised
any unjustifiable extra cost on the way, you are kindly requested
to have a receipt from the guide with his/her signature so
as to enable us to reimburse accordingly. Without the receipt,
reimbursement is not possible |
 |
| Guide |
| We always try to
provide a good English-speaking Tibetan Guide. However, as
per new regulation in TIBET, the guide association on a rotation
basis provides guides. Guides in Tibet do not get enough exposure
to English language in Tibet; please do not expect fluent
and spontaneous explanation from him/her. Your frequent questioning
will encourage him/her to explain well, question by question.
Always ask them program & timetable for tomorrow. Please
understand even, if they are not so kind or polite |
 |
| Clothes |
| As the temperature
in Tibet is low, it is always advised to carry warm clothes
along with a sleeping bag with you. As the weather is harsh
and dry, Chap Stick, suntan cream, sun hat, sunglasses with
sporty shoes are always recommended. |
